Elgin Vintners are a relatively new producer and with it's cool climate not unlike that of Bordeaux, is fast becoming recognised internationally for its quality wines which offer in style, the positives of both New and Old World wines. The variety of terroir means they are able to produce a wine of outstanding quality and complexity. Allegrini are one of the 'famous five' Amarone producers. They produce lush complex wines which carry their weight with considerable grace. With a compelling nose of smoked meat, black cherry and violets the palate is thickly textured with layer after layer of chocolate, fig and exotic spices. These wines provide a unique vinous experience and compared to the Dal Fornos of this world this is a bargain!

The Chardonnay spent 4 months in oak prior to blending in order to give body without compromising the delicate characteristics of the Viognier. The result is delicious, with mango, pineapple and vanilla characters and a long finish

An elegant Sancerre rosé, from the excellent 2005 vintage. Made using 100% Pinot Noir, the nose shows ripe red cherry, strawberry and red currant notes, balanced by a hint of blossom and steely minerality. Flinty and crisp on the palate with the red fruit flavours giving added interest and body.

Chiaretto 2006 Cavalchina Estate ()
Saturday, June 7th, 2008
The best of both worlds! This wine possesses the crisp, fresh appeal of a white wine while offering a delicious smattering of red cherry fruit flavours. Made by the saignée method, this is more full bodied and structured than many other rosé's and therefore more suited to food.
